New This Week (Apr 7 – Apr 13)

Two movies coming out this week. One movie is if you have a friend who is in to the same bad movie being told over and over again, and the other is for everybody else. Can you guess which is which?

The Longest Ride

The-Longest-Ride-movie-poster-3

Based on the bestselling novel by master storyteller Nicholas Sparks, THE LONGEST RIDE centers on the star-crossed love affair between Luke, a former champion bull rider looking to make a comeback, and Sophia, a college student who is about to embark upon her dream job in New York City’s art world. As conflicting paths and ideals test their relationship, Sophia and Luke make an unexpected and fateful connection with Ira, whose memories of his own decades-long romance with his beloved wife deeply inspire the young couple. Spanning generations and two intertwining love stories, THE LONGEST RIDE explores the challenges and infinite rewards of enduring love.

Seriously, look at that movie poster I posted. Does it look familiar? Even a little bit? Let me help you out here.

Look at these posters from other Nicholas Sparks movies. Do you see the trend here? It is, the same story, time and time again. Don’t believe me? Do a Google search, and see what others have said. Hell, I’ll even help you out. Here is a link to a Cracked article that even includes a nice chart on how to make your own Nicholas Sparks movie. Please, stop seeing these movies! Only if people stop seeing them, will the studios stop making them! If there is any doubt in your mind, this is NOT on my list of movie to see.

You probably don’t recognize a single name tied to this film. Most people don’t. But when you dig a little deeper, you start to see that the names involved with this film have been involved with a lot of films, some of which you have probably seen, like 28 Weeks, Kick-Ass, Saving Private Ryan, and others that are on your “Want to See” list, such as Star Wars Episode VII and VIII. And this movie doesn’t just have a look about it, but has already picked up an award for its efforts and has gotten a very positive reviews coming in as well.
